About the Role

Power Tech Nexus is the product company of the Power Tech group. We build and run our own AI-driven software products for businesses in Australia and the region. We are a small team growing deliberately, so every hire shapes how the product and the engineering practice turn out.

As DevOps and Platform Engineer, you'll own the cloud platform our products run on, across Azure and AWS. This is a build-and-run role: you'll design the platform, automate it, keep it secure, and make releases routine. You'll work closely with the product engineers and the AI & Cloud Architect, and you'll have real ownership of the deployment path to production.

Key Responsibilities

• Author, review, and apply infrastructure as code in Bicep and Terraform, with every plan or what-if reviewed before apply.

• Build and maintain CI/CD in GitHub Actions using federated (OIDC) credentials rather than stored secrets.

• Run containerised workloads on Azure Container Apps and AWS container services, releasing immutable image versions.

• Own identity, secrets, and network security for the platform, with least-privilege access throughout.

• Build observability that tells the truth, covering logs, metrics, alerting, and health checks.

• Keep production and non-production environments properly separated and free of configuration drift.

• Produce evidence for ISO 27001 and ISO 42001 controls as part of normal work.

Must-Have Skills and Experience

• 10+ years in DevOps, platform, or cloud infrastructure engineering, running production workloads on both Azure and AWS.

• Hands-on infrastructure as code with Terraform and Bicep, including the discipline of reviewing every plan or what-if before applying.

• Experience building CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions, including federated (OIDC) authentication to Azure and AWS.

• Experience running containerised workloads in production, such as on Azure Container Apps, Amazon ECS, or EKS, with immutable, versioned images.

• Practical depth in cloud identity, secrets management, and network security, applied with least privilege.

• Experience building observability with logs, metrics, alerting, and health checks, using tools such as Azure Monitor, CloudWatch, or Grafana.

• Experience working under security or compliance controls and producing evidence auditors can rely on.

Desirable Skills

• A recognised certification such as Azure DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400), AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional, or Terraform Associate.

• Kubernetes experience.

• Experience supporting ISO 27001 or ISO 42001 audits or working with a compliance automation platform.

• Experience running AI workloads, such as model gateways and vector databases.

• Experience with cloud cost management (FinOps).

Education

A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

What Success Looks Like

• Releases are routine: product engineers deploy to production confidently, without manual steps or late-night fixes.

• Every infrastructure change goes through reviewed code, environments stay separated with no configuration drift, and control evidence comes out of normal work.

• There are no long-lived stored secrets, and access across the platform is least-privilege and easy to audit.

• Your observability catches problems before customers do, and alerts are trusted rather than ignored.
