About Power Tech Consulting

Power Tech is a data, AI, cloud, and transformation consultancy serving mining, financial services, hospitality, and government clients across Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Singapore, and India. We're multi-vendor, so we recommend what's right, not what's easy to sell, and we're building our own products alongside client work.

Service through contribution. Trust through transparency. Accountable from end to end. Join us and help shape what Power Tech becomes.

About the Role

Power Tech Nexus is the product company of the Power Tech group. We build and run our own AI-driven software products for businesses in Australia and the region. We are a small team growing deliberately, so every hire shapes how the product and the engineering practice turn out.

As Product Owner, you'll turn customer needs into a clear, prioritised backlog for our AI products. You'll sit between customers, the Managing Director, and the engineering team, and make sure we build the right things in the right order. You'll spend real time with customers and real time with engineers, and you'll measure whether what we shipped made a difference.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the product backlog and roadmap for one or more Nexus products.

• Run customer discovery, including interviews, onboarding observation, and feedback loops.

• Write clear user stories with testable acceptance criteria and a definition of done.

• Run sprint planning and reviews with the engineering team.

• Define and track product metrics, covering activation, retention, usage, and revenue, and use them to judge whether what we shipped made a difference.

• Coordinate launches with marketing and customer support.

Must-Have Skills and Experience

• 15+ years as a Product Owner or Product Manager on software products, ideally SaaS.

• Hands-on customer discovery experience, including interviews and observation, and turning what you learn into backlog decisions.

• Experience writing user stories with testable acceptance criteria and running sprint planning and reviews in an Agile or Scrum team.

• Experience defining and tracking product metrics and using data to decide what to build next.

• The judgement to prioritise competing requests, and to explain the trade-offs clearly to the Managing Director and engineers.

• Excellent written and spoken English, with confidence working with customers in Australia across time zones.

Desirable Skills

• Experience owning AI or LLM-based products.

• A product ownership certification such as CSPO or PSPO.

• Experience with product analytics tools such as Mixpanel, Amplitude, or PostHog, and basic SQL.

• Experience with Jira and Confluence.

• Experience in a B2B SaaS company or start-up, including launching new products.

Education

A bachelor's degree in business, computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

What Success Looks Like

• The backlog is clear and prioritised, and engineers always know what comes next and why.

• Product decisions are grounded in what customers actually do and say, not assumptions.

• Product metrics are tracked, and every significant release is measured against them.

• Launches land smoothly, with marketing and customer support ready from day one.
