About the Role

Power Tech Nexus is the product company of the Power Tech group. We build and run our own AI-driven software products for businesses in Australia and the region. We are a small team growing deliberately, so every hire shapes how the product and the engineering practice turn out.

We're building a brand-new Odoo practice to serve clients across Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore, with more regions to follow as opportunities arise. It is not simply an implementation shop. Our ambition is a genuinely AI-powered Odoo practice, using widely available AI tools such as Claude alongside tools and methodologies we build ourselves to implement Odoo better, faster, and cheaper. The same tools and implementation context built during delivery will power AI-assisted support after go-live, giving clients a level of ongoing support a generic partner can't match.

Our first proving ground is real and urgent. Fiji's new VAT Monitoring System (VMS) requires retailers, wholesalers, and manufacturers to move onto an accredited point-of-sale and fiscal-reporting solution. We're building Odoo's accreditation and pursuing the first wave of Fijian clients, the first of many engagements this practice will take on across the region.

In the practice's earliest days there is no separate functional or technical team to delegate to: you are that team. You'll run client workshops, configure Odoo, and work hands-on on the technical build, including the Fiji VMS integration. As demand grows, you'll hire into those roles, hand off the day-to-day delivery you started, and shift your focus to building and leading the practice. This is a start-up environment, and we're deliberately building an A-grade team, so we need someone who takes ownership and drives things forward without waiting for a playbook.

Key Responsibilities

• Personally lead end-to-end Odoo implementations for our first clients, covering client workshops, requirements, functional configuration (POS, Sales, Purchasing, Inventory, and Accounting), and UAT, exactly as a dedicated Functional Consultant eventually will.

• Work hands-on on the technical build where needed, including custom development, integrations, and the Fiji VMS accreditation work (fiscal invoicing and certificate-based device communication), exactly as a dedicated Technical Consultant eventually will.

• Make the early technical and hosting calls for clients, covering Odoo.sh, self-hosted or on-premise deployment, and security, until a dedicated Technical Consultant is in place to own them.

• Deliver end-user training, documentation, and go-live and day-two support personally.

• Hire, onboard, and mentor dedicated Odoo Functional and Technical Consultants as client demand justifies it, and hand off the delivery work you started doing yourself.

• Build the practice's delivery methodology, templates, ways of working, and the standard the team is held to, grounded in what you learn delivering the first engagements yourself.

• Own end-to-end delivery management across a growing portfolio of Odoo engagements, including planning, resourcing, budgets, risk, and client governance.

• Drive adoption of AI-powered tools and methodologies across the practice, both generally available tools such as Claude and tools we build ourselves, to make implementations faster, cheaper, and better, and to power AI-assisted client support after go-live.

• Coordinate delivery across time zones and markets, including Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore, so the right people are working on the right thing at the right time.

• Own delivery of the flagship engagement, Fiji VMS accreditation and the first wave of Fijian retail clients, including managing the dependency between accreditation and client go-lives.

• Act as the escalation point for delivery issues and represent the practice to Power Tech Consulting leadership.

• Contribute to pre-sales alongside the wider sales team, including scoping, estimating, and reviewing proposals, and identify and pursue new regional opportunities beyond the first engagement.

Must-Have Skills and Experience

• 10+ years in IT/ERP delivery, with genuine hands-on functional and technical depth on Odoo or a comparable ERP, not purely managing delivery from a distance.

• A personal, hands-on role (functional, technical, or ideally both) in at least one full end-to-end ERP implementation.

• The ability and willingness to personally deliver Odoo functional configuration and basic technical build work before dedicated Functional and Technical Consultants are hired.

• Demonstrated experience running multiple concurrent client engagements with competing priorities and deadlines.

• Strong stakeholder management skills, and comfort working across cultures and time zones.

• Comfort using AI tools such as Claude in daily delivery work, and genuine curiosity about how AI changes the way ERP is implemented and supported.

• A driven, switched-on approach, and excellent written and verbal communication.

• A builder's mindset: you roll up your sleeves personally, and you have built or grown something before, not just maintained it.

Desirable Skills

• A formal project management certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, or a recognised Agile or Scrum qualification.

• Prior experience managing a consulting practice or standing up a new delivery capability from scratch.

• A deep hands-on technical background, such as Odoo development, if your core experience leans functional, or the reverse: the more combined functional and technical depth, the better.

• Exposure to retail and distribution clients, and to tax- and compliance-driven implementations such as VAT, fiscal devices, and payroll.

• Experience or strong interest in web development, e-commerce, or self-hosted infrastructure, as the practice does that work too.

• Willingness to work outside pure Odoo delivery when practice workload is light, as we assess skills holistically, not just against Odoo experience.

Education

A bachelor's degree in information technology, business, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

What Success Looks Like

• You're personally running the functional configuration, and technical build where needed, on our flagship Fiji engagement, with delivery governance in place.

• You have a credible view on when the practice can justify its first dedicated Functional or Technical Consultant.

• You've personally delivered at least ten full Odoo implementations end to end and hired and handed off functional or technical delivery to dedicated consultants.

• You've built a reusable AI-assisted delivery methodology and a credible pipeline into at least one new market beyond Fiji.
